Contradictions abound

13 July 2010

There are people that are arguing for religious liberty concerning the decision Christian Legal Society v. Martinez, arguing that Christian religious beliefs should be protected by law despite their blatant homophobia. There are also people arguing against and vandalizing the billboards in North Carolina with the words, “One nation, indivisible”, purposefully omitting the words, “under God.”

The funny thing: these are the same people. Apparently “religious liberty” means the same thing for conservative-evangelicals  as it meant for the Pilgrims: we are free to believe as we want, but you are not; instead you must believe as we do.
