Tau Day

28 June 2011

Happy Tau Day, everyone. For those of you who (unlike me) are normally functioning, non-debilitatingly nerdy people, Tau (τ) is a proposed substitute for the famous circle constant, Pi (π), which has a value of 2π, or 6.28… Why, may you ask, would you do something as silly as trying to replace π? Because π is wrong. (Or at least unhelpful and confusing):

Therefore, happy Tau Day, everyone! Unfortunately τ is not also the name of a delicious dessert like π is, so Tau Day is inherently less exciting than Pi Day. Nevertheless, the homophone is the only thing π has going for it. π, your days are numbered.
